Mission

The Department of Emergency Medicine of the University of Minnesota Medical School is committed to the education of medical students, residents, physicians, healthcare teams, allied health professionals and the public in all aspects of emergency medical care.

The Department supports the vision of universal access to and availability of excellent emergency care at all times, to everyone in need both within the Emergency Department and in the greater community.

The Department will advance the quality of emergency care everywhere by contributing new knowledge and skills obtained through active biomedical research and innovation in the practice of emergency medicine.

Collaboration and communication with medical specialty, healthcare, public health and safety, and related governmental organizations are essential activities, which are integral to this mission.
