Labs Offered

The emergency medicine department offers several instructional  labs for health professionals and students.  Participants gain skills for critical emergencies by working in teams under the supervision of experienced practitioners.  Labs offered include:

  • Benchmark - required for CALS certification
  • Airway 
  • Resident
  • Medical Student - part of EMMD 7500
  • ETLS

Procedures Taught

Depending on the lab, procedures could include:

  • Emergency ototracheal intubation
  • Cricothyrotomy
  • Tracheotomy
  • Internal cardiac massage
  • Peritoneal lavage
  • Skull trephination
